St. Paul Federal Credit Union

History

St. Paul Federal Credit Union, formerly known as I.B.E.W 110 Federal Credit Union, was originally chartered in November 1953 by a group of St. Paul Electricians to serve the Locals 110 and 949 members.  In 1987 the credit union converted to federal charter and added the family members of its electricians to its field of membership.

In 2004 the city of St. Paul was added to the membership base due to increasing growth and competition.  On August 1st, 2005, as a result of the new membership field, it was decided that the credit union would change to its current name, St. Paul Federal Credit Union.  The name change helped better reflect the changing membership base.

In 2003 the credit union moved to their new office space in the front of the Electrical Industry Building and in 2007 opened another branch office in the Hillcrest Shopping Center located on White Bear Avenue, St. Paul, MN.

In November of 2008, St. Paul Federal merged with Capital Trust Federal Credit Union.  Capital Trust traces its roots back to May 15, 1946 when the St. Paul FedEmp Federal Credit Union was established to serve Federal Employees and their families in St. Paul, Minnesota.  Capital Trust Federal Credit Union's two branches were located in the skyway in downtown St. Paul and in the Minneapolis Federal Courthouse.

St. Paul Federal Credit Union is a full-service, not-for-profit financial institution and is proud to currently serve a diverse membership base which includes electricians, federal government employees and both their family members, the Hispanic and Hmong communities, and any person who lives, works, worships or attends school in the cities of St. Paul or Minneapolis.

A Member-owned cooperative, the credit union is dedicated to the principle of "people helping people" philosophy
