Unfortunately, fraudsters often exploit these services to scam unsuspecting victims into sharing their information and money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s how subscriptions scams play out and how to protect yourself from falling victim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-are-subscription-scams\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What are subscription scams?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Subscription scams come in several forms:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Phishing emails and texts.<\/strong>\u00a0Scammers impersonate reputable companies, sending messages that prompt users to renew subscriptions or update payment info, leading to fraudulent websites aimed at stealing personal and financial details.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fleeceware apps.<\/strong>\u00a0These are mobile applications that, while not malicious in code, charge exorbitant subscription fees for basic functionalities.
